Elder MACEO EDWARD ANDERSON Original Member of the 4 Step Bros.
This space is dedicated in loving memory of one of our beloved ordained elders, Maceo E. Anderson. Some may remember Maceo Anderson as an original member of the Four Step Brothers Dance Quartet. The group’s show business efforts culminated with the Step Brothers earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
As an ordained minister at Holy Tabernacle Outreach Mission, Inc., Elder Anderson proved to be quite an inspirational speaker, motivator, and prayerful friend. He would glow when singing his song, ''Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In.'' Elder Anderson loved feeding and caring for the homeless. Even in his late 80's, Elder Anderson went out with the youngsters to feed and help someone. This was not too bad for a man who was once honored by invitation of the queen to a command performance.
I met Mr. Anderson when I was 9 years old and he was 55. In those early days, I was a child performer. When I had a family of my own, Elder Anderson stayed in our home for 7 years. We usually drove to church together where he sang and testified joyfully. Elder Anderson would say, ''I'm on my way to Heaven, so watch your step brother!'' The man who was once my childhood manager was praising God. Who, but God could know that the same child that he had to wake up to a jet lag performance, would someday become his pastor, and as he introduced me to the stage, I could in turn ordain him into the gospel ministry.
Miracles like these happen and when we see them and recognize the marvelous handiwork of God, we are profoundly blessed. When it was time for Elder Anderson to leave this life, I was honored and humbled to eulogize, and say goodbye to my friend. More so, as his former protégé and later pastor, it was my greatest joy to witness another saint go marching in (to God's glory).
